This year 5782/2021 marks the 25th anniversary of Yeshiva Aharon Yaakov/Ohr Eliyahu. Since 1995, our Yeshiva has grown from a school of 100 students housed in a former public school, to our current state of the art 3-acre campus in the heart of the Jewish community, with a student population four times the size. Join us as we express our Hakaras Hatov to Hakadosh Baruch Hu and memorialize this meaningful milestone with our first Sefer Torah campaign.
ועתה כתבו לכם את השירה הזאת
The culminating Mitzvah of the Torah is the commandment to write a Sefer Torah for oneself. Many Poskim rule that one can accomplish this Mitzvah by contributing to the writing of a Sefer Torah. Thanks to the continued generosity of Jim and Jill (Batya) Kapenstein and Family, a Sefer Torah is being written in the memory of Ira Kapenstein z”l, Jim’s father. Your contribution and participation in this campaign will give you a precious share in the Sefer Torah and support our learning programs, as together we express our gratitude to the Kapenstein family for their ongoing dedication to our Yeshiva and Klal Yisrael.
ולמדה את בני ישראל שימה בפיהם
After writing the Sefer Torah, we are commanded to now teach it to Bnei Yisroel. For over three decades Rabbi Goldberg, the Menahel of YAYOE, has dedicated his knowledge, experience, and capabilities to doing what the Posuk exhorts us to do. The scores of Yeshiva Aharon Yaakov/Ohr Eliyhau students have gained a roadmap to Limud HaTorah as their guide in Menchlichkeit and Yiras Shamayim. In addition, hundreds of Torah educators world-wide have benefited from his leadership and are in turn transforming their own schools to follow the YAYOE model.
הכנסת ספר תורה
Upon completion of the Sefer Torah, BE”H, we will host a gala Hachnassas Sefer Torah as we welcome the new Sefer Torah to our Aron Hakodesh. A commemorative book will be published including the names of all those who have contributed. In addition, those contributing $2,500 or more will have their dedication inscribed on a specially designed memorial plaque.
As you know, pandemic concerns have caused us to delay many of our fundraising efforts over the past two years. Our Sefer Torah campaign provides a rare opportunity to support YAYOE, and to do so in a way that will make a lasting impression on our students and create great reward for the extended YAYOE “family.” Please lend your support to this historic event for our Yeshiva.
